Joe May

b. 1967

Jeremy Farquhar (Joe May) performing at the Streets of Durham Festival, 2012 with an anti arms trade message to his circus-theatre street showBorn in London in 1967, Joe May, stage names Joseph d’Amour Buffon and Jeremy Farquhar is a very bendy clown, juggler and slack-rope walker. He went to Theatre Jacques Lecoq in France and trained clown and he is a professional Teacher. He has performed at many local festivals with Let’s Circus, at the Streets of Durham Festival several times and compered at the Stockton International Riverside Festival. He is a close associate with Let’s Circus and has inspired young buskers such as Mr Freak and Kernel La Bonche.

Via his theatrical character-based shows Joe spreads the message of love or teaches the audience about the arms trade. His business is called Passion for Laughter and with his wife and family, travels to work summer festival seasons both in Australia and in the UK. When not performing, directing or teaching, Joe and wife Trish run a catering business making healthy juice and foods for the festivals market.
